Kozhikode Beach
The beach at Kozhikode is still beautiful and is not overdeveloped yet. It remains a popular hangout for locals and others visiting the place. Lion’s park and children’s park are some parks adjoining the beach. The two sea piers are almost 125 years old and goes into the sea. the sight of fishermen rowing their small boats and coming back with their catch is a beautiful sight with the waves providing a perfect backdrop.
Kappad Beach
Vasco Da Gama landed on Kappad Beach on 27 May 1498. This place is also known as Kappakkadavu. Vasco Da Gama landed with three vessels and 170 men. It is at a distance of sixteen kilometers from Calicut. There is a monument which commemorates this historical event and an ancient temple on a hillock is an added attraction which faces the sea.
