Astronomy gallery to be opened at RSC, Kozhikode

Astronomy gallery to be opened at Regional Science Centre here in October! The gallery was set up as part of the declaration of 2009 as the International Year of Astronomy by the United Nations. The gallery is coming up in the new block of the RSC on 4100 sq. ft. There are 38 working models and statues of astronomers including Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei, Indian astronomer Aryabhatta and others will be displayed in the gallery.
The gallery is sectioned into four – pre-telescopic area, post-telescopic are, earth and moon and, ‘in search of cosmic truth’. You’ll also get to see different types of telescopes too. RSC will also be recreating the same telescope that Galileo had used in his time. Another highlight is a ‘moon photo spot’ with a 3D replica of an astronaut and the visitors can take a photo using the camera installed there. All astronomy lovers can drop in and have a look at it in near future.
